Peek a Boo 3D Ultrasound is a non-diagnostic bonding ultrasound experience for you and your loved ones. It does not replace any of the formal medical ultrasounds that your doctor may request throughout your pregnancy.
I’m a qualified medical sonographer with 2 young children, a son and a daughter. Throughout both of my pregnancies I was privileged to get to know my babies through the use of ultrasound during my lunch breaks while I was at work. I knew my son was going to be a thumb sucker as I watched him do it all the time while I was pregnant. I discovered I was having a daughter when I decided to find out the sex of my second baby at 16 weeks and performed an ultrasound on myself. I definitely feel honoured to have been able to play Peek A Boo with my babies prior to their arrival and want to be able to share this experience with other expecting families. And that is how Peek A Boo 3D Ultrasound was born!

Got a question? See below for answers to some of the most common questions we're asked
You do not need to drink gallons of water and make yourself uncomfortable, however sometimes it is useful if you have a bit of fluid in your bladder so that if the baby isn’t in a great position to get 3D/4D images I can get you to empty your bladder and this can cause the baby to move around and may mean that it moves into a more photogenic position.
Certainly not! Babies need fuel to be active and we like to watch active babies on ultrasound! Eat as normal and if you can fit it in, maybe even have a snack containing natural sugars (if you don’t have gestational diabetes) about 15 minutes before your appointment to give your baby some energy and hopefully he or she will put on a show for us!
Whoever you like! Your partner, other children, grandparents, close friends, etc! Maybe you have someone close who is visiting while you are pregnant and won’t be here when the baby is born so you’d like to introduce them to your baby while theyc are here!
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee perfect images every time due to different factors such as, baby position, amount of fluid around the baby or body shape of the mother. However if we feel that you would benefit from returning for a rescan we will happily rebook you free of charge.
Extensive studies over the last 30 years have shown that ultrasound has no known risks to either mothers or their babies.
No you don’t. This is a non-diagnostic ultrasound and is for bonding and/or gender reveal purposes only.
Unfortunately not. As this is not a medically required ultrasound it does not attract a rebate from either Medicare or Private Health Insurance companies.
Absolutely not! We completely respect and admire the willpower taken to keep the sex of your baby a surprise and will avoid ‘that region’ if you request NOT to know the sex of your baby.
Anytime between 25-33 weeks is usually a good time to get these images. At this gestation the babies begin to build up some facial fat making them very cute to see on 3D ultrasound and there is usually still enough fluid around the baby to obtain good images. More petite women can expect good images at earlier gestations, whereas curvier women might get better images closer to 30 weeks but there is no hard and fast rule.
